A drake Garganey dropped in just off Farborough Bank with a “Channel” Wagtail and 5+ yellow Wagtails along there. 1st summer Little Gull, 2 Black Terns and at least 4 Arctic and c20 Common Terns coming and going. 4 Dunlin through, Little Egret flew along the north shore and c43 Swift. A small group of 4 Common Terns flew over Farborough Bank (TM JJ DW) with a noticeably smaller bird. Noted were different structure (small and short winged) to the Commons, grey belly, pale wings with a dusky edge to the primaries and a shallow forked tail lacking streamers. A second winter Caspian Gull “post roost” (R Mays D Cox) female Pintail still Rainbow (4 flew out in morning) c30 Goosander, c20 Tree Sparrows at the feeder, 26+ Pochard, 13 Gadwall, Chiffchaff, Grey Wagtail, Treecreeper, Jay and 2 Sparrowhawk. Drake Smew and 2 Common Scoter still present and 5 Little Egrets along Draycote Bank. 2 White-fronted Geese and a Pink-footed Goose again with 80+ Greylags but still flighty. Other wildfowl were female Pintail in Rainbow, 6 Shelduck over the Visitor Centre then on res for c1 hour, c25 Goosander and 17 Goldeneye. C30 Tree Sparrows at the feeder, Chiffchaff, 2 Grey Wagtail, Peregrine, 2 Kingfisher and Sparrowhawk. In the roost were 2 adult Caspian Gulls, adult Med Gull and first winter Yellow-legged Gull.
