Long-tailed Duck still viewable from Farborough Spit and the female Red-breasted Merganser off Draycote Bank. 14 Goosander (8 drake) 1+ Water Rail Toft and 2 Tree Sparrows at the feeder. On the north shore c25 Siskin, 2 Redpoll, 2 Chiffchaff and 2 Raven over. The albino Squirrel is being seen regularly around the vicinity of the Hide where the rangers have put another feeder to the left. (B Hazell R Mays)

Imm Little Gull c10:35 joined by 3 adults and all left c10:45. Rock Pipit Farborough bank with Wheatear, Grey Wagtail and 11 Meadow Pipits there. Dunlin, Ringed Plover near the Pontoons. Ringed Plover near the Pontoons and a mobile Common Sandpiper. Wildfowl early morning were 60 Wigeon, 20 Shoveler, 4 Pochard and c20 Teal most flushed when the boats went out. 3 Grey Wagtail Farborough bank, adult Yellow-legged Gull and an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull with white primaries. First year Little Gull and 2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls. Grey Wagtail, Raven over and 45 Greylag Geese. Of interest Bob traced the Tufted Duck with the nasal saddle ring and it was ringed at São Jacinto Dunes Nature Reserve (40º41’N 08º44’W). (B Hazell)

Adult Caspian, juv Med and 10 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost (T Marlow) 8 Common Terns including 4 juv's. 2 of them were colour ringed at Brandon on July 20th and left there on August 25th. Dunlin Farborough Spit with 7 Yellow Wagtail along the bank in the evening. Several Common Sandpiper still around the reservoir with the best count of 5 together. 2 Golden Plover over in the evening, Kingfisher below Draycote Bank, drake Pochard, 3 Teal and a Clouded Yellow butterfly along Toft Bank. Drake Smew again off Farborough bank with a pair of Pintail off Lin Croft Point. 2 Tree Sparrows and male Brambling at the feeder, Kingfisher again below Draycote Bank with Grey Wagtail there. 2+ Chiffchaff Toft, with good number of Goldcrests, 3 Siskin, c140 Golden Plover with c500 Lapwing, 2 Raven over, c150 Wigeon and a roost of 30+ Magpie late afternoon. January 3rd
Drake Smew again off Farborough bank, 2 Chiffchaff in Toft, Kingfisher below Draycote Bank, Jay and 23 Greylag Geese. Birds over were 2 Raven, c200 Golden Plover and c400 Lapwing. (B Hazell S Batt)
January 2nd
No sign of the drake Smew. Tree Sparrow at the feeder with male Brambling and 6 Yellowhammer there. Toft area 3 Chiffchaff, 4 Redpoll and 8 Siskin. Adult Yellow-legged Gull, c200 Golden Plover and c300 Lapwing over, 2 Raven over, Kingfisher below Draycote Bank, Grey Wagtail along Farborough Bank and 2 Sparrowhawk. (B Hazell K Groocock)
January 1st
Drake Smew still off Farborough Bank and later Grays Barn. A Little Egret was in Rainbow Corner, 2 Chiffchaff 1 at the car park and 1 at Toft, 100+ Golden Plover and c300 Lapwing over. 7 Goosander, Raven over, 2 Tree Sparrows at the feeder, Redpoll and Siskin Grays Barn.
