An impressive 31 Common Scoter in the middle of the Reservoir. Short-eared Owl viewed from Farborough bank, Nuthatch in the Country Park, male Goosander off Draycote Bank. A Black-throated Diver flew in from the east towards Biggin Bay then being lost in the remaining fog near the Valve Tower. Despite searching when the fog lifted it could not be re-located. Black-necked Grebe still near the Hide and drake Common Scoter Draycote Bank area. At least 1 Nuthatch in trees near the treatment works (still a very rare bird for the reservoir). 2 Wheatear and 3 Grey Wagtail Farborough bank. Adult Yellow-legged Gull and Kingfisher at the Inlet. The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay near the Hide and drake Common Scoter off Draycote Bank. Osprey seen failing to catch (M Doughty) Dunlin Farborough Spit briefly with 12+ Yellow Wagtail along the Bank. Redwing over east. (B Hazell R Mays M Doughty)
September 25th
The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay near the Hide and just one drake Common Scoter off Dunns Bay. Still 6 Yellow Wagtail below Farborough bank and Hobby. In the roost were 8 Yellow-legged Gulls (3 adult, third winter, 2 second winter and 2 first winter) plus the leucistic Black-headed Gull again. (B Hazell R Mays T Marlow)
September 24th
2 drake Common Scoter Biggin Bay. Despite the weather the wildfowl made an unprecedented decision to move as there was only 16 Wigeon and 16 Teal apart from the usual Tufted and Mallard. Second year Yellow-legged Gull. (T Marlow)
September 23rd
From 7am to 9am the juv Black-necked Grebe and drake Common Scoter still present. Black Tern. Waders were 2 Greenshank and Green Sandpiper Toft, 10 Curlew over and 5 Dunlin through. Rock Pipit Farborough Bank, 50+ Meadow Pipit, 5 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Grey Wagtail and 6 Siskin. Wildfowl were 3 Pintail, 300+ Wigeon, 26 Shoveler, 9 Gadwall and 5 Pochard. (R Mays C Potter)

 The drake Common Scoter off Draycote Bank. In the roost were sub adult and second year Yellow-legged Gulls and a partially leucistic Black-headed Gull. (J Judge T Marlow)

The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay and drake Common Scoter off Draycote Bank but mobile. Greenshank flew east to west, 5+ Yellow Wagtail below Farborough Bank and Yellow-legged Gulls were adult, third, second and first years. (B Hazell R Mays T Marlow)

The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay and drake Common Scoter in the center. Sanderling, 3 Dunlin, 6+ Yellow and 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit Farborough Bank and below. 5+ Siskin, 10 Chiffchaff on the north shore, 14 Wigeon and 12 Teal. 2 Raven over. (B Hazell R Mays T Marlow)

The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay and drake Common Scoter off Draycote Bank but mobile. The first winter Med Gull till 9am, Wheatear near the Sailing Club, 6+ Yellow Wagtail Farborough Bank, Ringed Plover Farborough Spit, Common Sandpiper Toft, 7 Golden Plover over, Siskin on the North Shore, Pochard, 3 Wigeon and 8 Teal. The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay and drake Common Scoter off the Inlet. No sign of the drake Scaup. Ringed Plover at Farborough Spit, Wheatear on the Hide plus 4 Siskin there, Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Tree Sparrow, Whitethroat and 5 Blackcap at the Sewage Works. First winter Med Gull in roost. The juv Black-necked Grebe was still in Toft Bay and drake Common Scoter off the Inlet. Adult drake Scaup Biggin Bay with Pochard, 3 Wigeon and 6 Teal. Adult, sub adult and second year Yellow-legged Gulls. c40 Waders over the car park at c12.20 presumed Bar-tailed Godwit. (T Marlow)

A Roseate Tern was seen c3pm (P Hyde) and spent most of the afternoon in the middle viewable from either the Sailing Club/Windsurfing areas or Farborough Bank. The only other record for Draycote is one on May 4th 1969. c54 Arctic and c12 Common Tern present. Adult and first summer Little Gull, 6 Wheatear, 3 White Wagtail, 3 Yellow Wagtail (male Blue-headed reported on pager) Waders were 2 Turnstone (P Hyde) 7 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover and Oystercatcher. Juv Glaucous Gull over Biggin Bay, drake Smew off Draycote Bank, 2 Dunlin Inlet/Overflow area and 25 Golden Plover over with c15 in fields below Farborough bank. 3 Redpoll Lin Croft, 12 Siskin Toft Shallows, 50+ Yellowhammer and 2 Reed Bunting behind the Inlet and Sparrowhawk. Red-breasted Merganser off Draycote Bank with 3 Smew (2 drake) Adult Yellow-legged Gull, Peregrine and Merlin over. (B Hazell R Mays)
January 10th
8 Shelduck and 7 Shoveler (4 drake). 25 Greylag Geese below Farborough Bank and 3 Siskin. In the roost the adult Iceland Gull and juv Glaucous Gull plus 2 adult Yellow-legged Gull. Of interest in Toft a presumed Tufted X Pochard hybrid which at times can resemble a Lesser Scaup. (T Marlow M Baynes S Batt)

Red-breasted Merganser still, 2 Dunlin at the Inlet, Peregrine and 3 Raven over, 3 Shelduck and Med Gull below the Golf Course. 3 Siskin and Grey Wagtail. Only 2 adult Yellow-legged Gull and the Leucistic Black-headed Gull in the roost. (J Judge T Marlow B Hazell R Mays S Batt)

Red-breasted Merganser off Draycote Bank, adult Kittiwake and Snow Bunting heard but not seen near the Valve Tower. 51 Goosander, female Pintail with new for the year 2 Siskin, Raven and Great Spotted Woodpecker. n the roost the adult Iceland Gull and juv Glaucous Gull again with adult Yellow-legged Gull. Red-breasted Merganser off Draycote Bank with 2 Pintail and 2 Shoveler also off there. Adult Iceland Gull off Hensborough bank c11.40 and Little Egret over Draycote Bank. 56 Goosander at the Valve Tower Grey Wagtail  and 15 Grey Heron in fields behind.
